Escape to Slovenia’s Fly Fishing Paradise: Experience the Ultimate Adventure with Flyfishingodec, Your Expert Guide!
Guided fly-fishing tours and daily guided trips to well-known and slightly more out-of-the-way fly-fishing destinations in Slovenia.
We are proud of our fly-fishing school, where as well as instructing individuals in the basics of fly-fishing.
The beginning of the fly‑fishing season in Slovenia once again brought that familiar energy all anglers know well: clear water, rising trout and the quiet excitement of the first casts of a new year. The 2026 fly‑fishing season started exceptionally well — April delivered excellent fishing, even though unusually high temperatures surprised us in the first weeks. The winter had been dry, with almost no snow in the mountains and very little rainfall, so some rivers showed signs of low water already at the start of the season.
Despite this, my guides and I found the best river sections every day, ensuring guests enjoyed quality fly fishing, learning and the peaceful rhythm of nature.
May brought a strong cold front and the long‑awaited rain, creating perfect conditions — and both May and June turned out to be excellent months for fly fishing. Cooler weather, refreshed river systems and stable flows allowed us to guide guests on a wider range of waters, offering truly memorable days on the river.
However, as I write this in August, it has become clear that the rainfall in May was the last significant precipitation of the season. We are now facing critical drought conditions affecting river flows and fish populations. Some rivers are temporarily closed, so we guide only on selected waters that still maintain stable flow and allow safe, responsible fishing.
July was dedicated to exploring Greenland — a destination that once again opened my eyes. The wilderness, the Arctic char, the untouched glacial river systems… Greenland is a place I will return to every year. The program for 2027 is already in preparation and will soon be published on the website.
Next year we return to Iceland, and we may add another long‑desired destination that naturally aligns with our philosophy of sustainable fly‑fishing travel.
The second half of the season is ahead. Drought remains a challenge, but we continue — adaptively, responsibly and in the rhythm of nature. Every day we adjust plans, choose only rivers that remain in balance, and redirect guests to other suitable waters when needed to ensure safe, high‑quality fishing. Once conditions improve and rainfall refreshes the rivers, we will reopen additional waters and continue where we started: with responsible guiding, care for the rivers and premium, tailored experiences for every guest.
